The representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan was elected as a member of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

On 9 April 2024 in New York, at the meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), elections were held for the membership of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) for the term 2025-2028.

As the result of the elections, Dr. Nadir Adilov, the Chairman of the Mediation Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was re-elected to the Committee with the unanimous support of Member States of ECOSOC.

The Committee, established in 1985, consists of 18 experts and supervises the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

It is the second time that a representative of Azerbaijan has been elected as a member of the Committee.
